Distribution

Found in the central Indo-Pacific.

ID Tips

Zooplius form free-living colonies of up to 60cm in diameter.  The colonies have thin walls and form fragile, irregular domes, which may fragment, and are found in deep areas sheltered from wave action.  Zooplius is uncommon.

The corallites are hard to distinguish.  The septocostae have tall teeth, and run from the central corallite out towards the edge of the colony.

Similar Genera

The Coral Finder lists Zooplius in one key group but the delicate domes produce a distinctive appearance, therefore there is little chance of confusion with other similar genera.
